Workshop Video: Ratios

Hello MASTER MATHEMATICIANS,

Welcome back to school! In the first week of Term 4, we are learning more about fractions, proportions and ratios.

Here is a fantastic video that explains what ratios are.  This video is a long one, however each minute will be incredibly helpful for you to watch before your workshops and activities this week.  The videos I post prior to your workshops will help with your understanding and confidence before your learning.  If you are unsure after watching, don't stress or worry about it because you may find that when you here me talking about it in the lesson or see your activity, you will 'click' and things will start making sense.

Khan Academy is where this video is from.  There are HEAPS of tremendous clips about strategies and WALTs you are learning in Maths so feel free to have a look at some other ones too if you like!  You could even have a look with your parent or someone at home to go over an area that you find hard to do and can't quite get it yet.

Happy solving, Master Mathematicians!

Measurement: Volume

On Wednesday, we will be learning about volume.  Have a look at these YouTube videos to help you understand a little bit more before our lessons.

Maths HomeFun Term 3, Due Week 6 Friday 28th August

Find the area of these six irregular shapes.  Show your working.

Using your knowledge of finding the area irregular shapes.  Create some measurements for this house floor plan.  Once you have worked out what your measurements are, write the area for each room in the house.  Also, solve what the total area of the house will be.
Try to think of realistic measurements to show that you can apply your estimating skills we have been learning.
